RETN(Resistin) Introduction

Resistin is a fat-derived peptide hormone rich in cysteine, which is encoded by the RETN gene in humans. In primates, pigs and dogs, resistin is secreted by immune cells and epithelial cells. In rodents, it is secreted by adipose tissue. Recent studies have found that Resistin is also involved in inflammation.

Resistin does have the function of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and can be an important node in inflammatory diseases. 

Human RETN(Resistin) ELISA Kit Test method

This kit uses sandwich ELISA to detect the concentration of  RETN(Resistin) The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to RETN(Resistin). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to RETN(Resistin). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain of RETN, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of RETN(Resistin) in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
