N-17OHP
17-Alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) is the product of progesterone alpha-hydroxylation. This 21-carbon steroid is produced by adrenals, ovaries, testes and placenta. The neonatal 17-OHP is used for screening of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) in newborns with ambiguous genitalia and in girls who become virilized during adolescence.
