Description

SAA(Serum amyloid A protein) Introduciton

Serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins are a family of apolipoproteins associated with high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma. Different isoforms of SAA are expressed constitutively (constitutive SAAs) at different levels or in response to inflammatory stimuli (acute phase SAAs). These proteins are produced predominantly by the liver. A fourth SAA (SAA4) was identified in humans and is expressed constitutively in the liver and, thus, is defined as a constitutive SAA (C-SAA).[8] A similar protein that is now also called SAA4 has since been identified in the mouse; it had originally been designated SAA5.

Human SAA(Serum amyloid A protein) ELISA Kit Test method

This kit uses sandwich ELISA to detect the concentration of  SAA The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to SAA. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to SAA. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain of SAA, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of SAA in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
